These terms cover your use of Spot, including trainwithspot.com, the web app at app.trainwithspot.com and our iOS app. Spot is provided by Sans Software LLC, a United States company ("Spot", "we", "us"). By creating an account, buying a plan or using Spot, you agree to these terms, our subscription terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Spot.
1. Your account
You must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share it or pretend to be someone else. Tell us quickly if you think someone got in.
You can invite people to your household and give sitters a link. You decide who gets access, and you are responsible for that choice. You can remove people and end links at any time.
2. Training and pet health information
Spot gives general training lessons, care tools and information. It is not veterinary advice and does not replace a veterinarian, veterinary behaviorist or professional trainer. Every dog is different. Ask a professional about your dog's health, sudden changes in behavior, and any bite, aggression or panic. Stop any exercise that seems to cause your dog stress or pain.
If your dog may have eaten something harmful or is having an emergency, call your vet, an emergency clinic or a poison line right away. Do not wait for Spot. Never leave young children alone with any dog.
You are responsible for the safety of your dog, other animals and people when you follow anything in Spot. The free tools on trainwithspot.com, such as the toxic foods lookup and the potty schedule, are general information and can be incomplete.
3. Coach and other AI features
Coach and document reading use AI. AI can be wrong, out of date or miss something important. Coach does not diagnose, prescribe or give medical advice. Treat every answer as general guidance and check it with a professional when it matters. Do not use Coach in an emergency. We limit how many Coach questions you can ask each day, and we may block requests that are unsafe or abusive.
When Spot reads a document with AI, check the result before you rely on it. You are responsible for the records you save.
4. Subscriptions, cancelling and refunds
Some features need Spot Plus, a paid subscription for your household. The price, billing period, any trial or intro price, and the renewal price are shown before you pay, and those are the terms that apply to you. On the web, Stripe takes your payment. In the iOS app, Apple bills your Apple Account.
- Plus renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. When a trial or intro price ends, the regular price shown when you signed up starts, unless you cancel first.
- Cancel a web plan in Spot: open the Pet tab, then Settings, then Manage subscription. Cancel an App Store plan in your Apple Account settings. You can also email us and we will help.
- When you cancel, you keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a plan. Deleting your account cancels a web plan, but not an App Store plan.
- Payments on the web are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund. If we charged you by mistake, or something went wrong, email us and we will look at it.
- Apple handles refunds for anything bought through the App Store. Ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- We may change prices for future periods. We will tell you before a new price applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
The subscription terms cover trials, renewals, failed payments, gifts, lifetime plans and other one-time purchases in more detail. They are part of these terms.
5. Treats, streaks and other in-app items
Spot has in-app items such as Treats, streak freezes and streak repairs. You can earn some of them and buy some of them. They have no cash value, you cannot sell, transfer or swap them for money, and they are not your property. We may change how they work, what they cost or how many you have, for example to fix a mistake. Purchases of in-app items are final, except where the law requires a refund. Unused items end when your account is deleted.
6. Using Spot
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Spot for your own non-commercial use. We and our licensors keep all rights in the software, brand, design and content.
- Do not resell Spot or copy, scrape or bulk-download our lessons or other content.
- Do not use our content to train AI models.
- Do not get around paywalls, limits or security features.
- Do not upload harmful code, interfere with Spot, or use Spot to break the law or harm others.
- Do not use Spot to run a competing training or content business without our written permission.
7. Your content
You own the photos, documents, logs and messages you add. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process and display them as needed to run and improve Spot, as described in our privacy policy. Anything you choose to share publicly, such as a share card, can be seen and copied by others. You promise you have the right to add your content. We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law. If you send us feedback, we can use it without paying you.
8. Copyright complaints
If you think something in Spot infringes your copyright, email support@trainwithspot.com with the work you own, where it appears in Spot, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not allowed and that your notice is accurate. We will look into it and remove the content if needed. We may close the accounts of people who infringe again and again.
9. Other companies
App stores, payment providers, vets, partners and linked sites run under their own terms. We do not control them. We may earn money when you use a link to a partner. That does not mean the partner is right for you.
10. Changes and ending your account
We may change or stop features. We may suspend or end accounts for breaking these terms, fraud, security or legal reasons. If we shut down paid features for reasons that are not your fault, we will give you any refund the law requires. You can delete your account at any time in the app. Sections that should reasonably continue after that, such as sections 11 to 14, will continue.
11. No warranty
Spot is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, Sans Software LLC and its suppliers give no warranties of any kind, including for merchantability, fitness for a purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that Spot will be error-free or always available, or that it will get any particular result with your dog.
12. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Sans Software LLC and its suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost profits, lost data, or harm to a pet or person that comes from following information in Spot. Our total liability for any claim about Spot is limited to the greater of US $100 or what you paid us in the six months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for fraud, and your consumer rights stay in place.
13. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover Sans Software LLC for claims, losses and reasonable legal fees brought by someone else because you broke these terms, broke the law or infringed someone's rights while using Spot. This does not apply where the claim comes from our own wrongdoing.
14. Governing law
Delaware law governs these terms, except where the law of your home requires otherwise. Courts in Delaware handle disputes, and you may also use small claims court where you live. Before you file a claim, please email support@trainwithspot.com so we can try to fix it.
15. App stores
If you get Spot from an app store, that store's terms also apply. These terms are between you and Sans Software LLC, not the store. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app, its support and any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for the iOS app and may enforce them.
16. The rest
These terms, the subscription terms and the privacy policy are our whole agreement. If part of them is not enforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce something right away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer these terms to someone else. We may transfer them if Spot is sold or reorganized. We send notices by email or in the app. We may update these terms. We will post the new version and change the date, and tell you about big changes. Using Spot after a change means you accept it.
